I wandered around the yard for an hour revisited all the Blazers & Jimmys I already picked on and some new arrivals while looking for a big heavy duty GM truck. Everything bigger than a 1500 was already stripped of the alternator except one. It had a fire under the hood and melted most everything. When I was on the very last row I stumbled onto a 2000 Cadillac Escalade. Power everything and a monster V-8.
What more could a rich boy want? How about a monster alternator? This thing didn't look like it would even fit under my hood! What's more, it had it's fan behind a disk. I took a step back [off the monster tire I was standing on lol] and thought this through. The path of the belt was the same as my truck but bigger engine made the A/C compressor PS Pump and Crank pulleys all seemed to be the same.
I could not find a number of any kind anywhere - even after un-installing it. On the back simply "REMY DELCO." I bought a Monster alternator once to power all my off road lights on my 1st 4x4 [79 Jimmy] and it had an internal fan. This went beyond that. No visible copper wire weaved basket. Just about everything is internal. Provided the plug is a fit, the other connection is a ring connector to the battery.

I have no idea what kind of alternator that is but it looks like it should bolt up just fine. You will definitely need a longer belt. Usually with the AD244 or the DR44G you will need a 1" longer belt.

I stared at that thing for a good 5 minutes thinking it through. Except for the alternator; all the other spinning appliances and pulleys looked identical. Of the other trucks [missing the alternator] they also had cut belts. This one still had the belt intact. For $2 more I took the belt too. I also bought a 7 month "anything goes" warrantee for $5 ! I think mebe Harbor Freight started something there lol. Provided I can ID a AD244 or the DR44G; I can just go back - beyond the usual 30 days if need be.
I wanted this thing because I know I am gonna need more and more power. Supporting a small town would be ideal but for now. When we go camping I want to have a second battery and run an inverter. Not to mention leaving a door ajar for hours at a time. I'm still looking into creating a custom "Dome Override" to prevent that.
I hope to get this thing installed in a week or so. When I do, I'll post side by side pix - old and new. In the mean time I want to explore a "second battery [auxiliary] option" that I can wire in at the same time.

If things don't work out with the monster I'll go get one of these. I heard somewhere that they don't always put out 135-145. Sometimes around 100. If that's true, can you tell which ones have the bigger Voltage regulator inside?
