Yes, I was able to get the wiring harness out of the way, but just barely( right now I have it tie-strapped towards the front of the engine, just out of the way). Also, I borrowed a 0-50 inch-pound torque wrench and purchased a 120 - 960 inch-pound torque wrench so I was wondering if I can get by without the proper wrench for step 2 of the tightening sequence. Also, I read that I should use some thread lock on the bolts since the final torque value is so low. Any thoughts?

The most important thing is make sure the bolts are clean and they turn easily when you're putting them in or the torque won't be accurate. Clean the bolt threads with a wire brush if you have doubts. I didn't use thread lock on mine but if you do, use the blue.

My first post. I did this recently and so far you look good. While in there, I replaced valve cover gaskets, water pump, thermostat, distributor cap and rotor.

Car drives like a dream now.

O.K., I finally got everything put back together with some help from a neighbor who guided the fuel lines in place while I hovered the manifold over the block. Probably could have managed by myself but I was really happy for the extra set of hands. I ended up biting the bullet & got the cruise control cable from a local dealer. (List = $54.80) Probably was an avoidable casualty of the job with a little more care.

Thanks for all the advice along the way. This site is awesome!!

Default Thanks

Finished up this job a couple of days ago and so far so good (no leaks). Sorry it took so long to follow up. I thought I posted a follow-up already but must not have submitted it.

Thanks for all the tips and links which were extremely helpful!
