Default Another potential fuel prob question!1996 jimmy

My wife has a 1996 Jimmy. As of late it has been starting hard when cold. You would have to hit the key a few diff times to get it to start...It would crank an sometimes try an fire on the 1st or 2nd trys..But not fully start. It would start fine for the most part if it hadnt been sitting awhile. For example over night sitting in cool temps an it would struggle. But if it had been running a few hours before it would start ok for us.Today it would not start at all..It barely fired once or twice. But that was with a few dozen attempts or more.I can hear the fuel pump cycling when you key it on.I have pulled the coil wire an there was spark coming from the coil.I also pushed the schrader valve for the fuel pressure..It sprayed a short burst an stopped.I then keyed on the pump a few more times..An the shrader valve did the same thing again.I now have to put the battery on the charger from so many failed attempts at starting it.Any help i greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need to do the 96+ fuel diagnoses listed on this site. Your fuel pump may be working but not putting out enough pressure and these vehciles need a lot of pressure to start and stay running. Do you have a fuel pressure tester gauge? If so, put it on the shrader valve and turn the key on, should be about 55 lbs.
