Another Vacuum leak thread
#12
My leak was at the mode switch in the A/C- heat controls on the dash. The rubber veined disk inside had shrunk and was leaking vacuum. OE switch from Rock Auto ($80) solved the problem. Now when under a load the heat doesn't blow in my face anymore when on floor setting and 4WD will stay engaged.
Was it very hard to get at the switch to replace it? For a manually controlled HVAC system, I'm guessing it would not be too bad.

Not too bad. Once you get the front bezel off, the worst part is plugging the vacuum connector back on to the switch. The vacuum lines are just long enough to allow you to only pull the switch assembly about an inch and half out to access the vacuum connector itself (need small hands to get back there to plug the connector back on the switch). The electrical connectors are easy, plenty of room to get access once the vacuum is un-plugged.
