Antenna?
I got an antenna question for ya guys. My antenna has what seems to be a cord wrapped around it. Most of them i have seen on cars is just the metal rod. This one has the rod then the cable around it. What is the reason for the cable?
One reason for it is to disrupt the airflow across the antenna to prevent wind whistle while driving.
It's also cool to watch a piece of plastic that hits the antenna go spinning round and round as it travels up and off the rod.

yep therandom1 got it right in his pic. I couldnt post a pic cuz i am in class now. Thanks Random!! Yea, someone once told me that that cable was for the temp gauge on my mirror and i guess i just never questioned it. But now i wanna put a new antenna on so i figured I should double check what it was. Thanks for the replies guys. This forum is a life saver sometimes.
