Default blazer heater going crazy

Hello everyone,
I have a 1999 2wd blazer. I rercently had problems with my heater core and the defrost door would not open. When I replaced the heater core I found a plastic piece broken on the linkage to the door. After getting the dash and everythig bac together it seemed everything was working fine until the cold weather came and I needed my defroster. When my tempature switch is set on cold (in the blue area) I can switch from floor to dash to defrost fine but when I move the **** to red no matter where my selector switch is it only blows out of the dash. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Automatic or manual temperature control? If manual, there is no real difference between hot and cold as far as air diversion...
