Blazer Runs in Idle and Neutral Fine, Bogs Down in Drive Sometimes Stalls
#11
EDIT: I put a decent amount of water through my fuel system a while back on accident (fuel can with rain water inside) and am thinking the fuel filter is contaminating my fuel with moisture and could be bogging the vehicle down. I will try this next and see what happens.

Yep....water in the fuel system is going to cause a problem! Only way to get all the water out that I know of is to drain the tank and blow-out the fuel lines. Adding moisture absorber to the fuel will help a little, draining tank best option.

I replaced the fuel filter today but did not fix the problem. The fuel system seems to be working properly. I think it is an air issue or faulty wiring/plugs. Does anyone know of any commonly faulty hoses or sensors? I will be checking spark plugs, changing cap and rotor and will get back with the results. The RPM drop is preceded by the temp gauge dropping to 0.

I am wondering what people think about this being a possible ECU problem? Since the car drives and runs normally until operating temperature is hit, could it be that the computer is faulty? I just brought my car to Firestone to get tested and they told me I could have a faulty coolant temperature sensor. Would this be worth replacing even though it does not affect the engine or should I try the ECU?

Ok guys, just got back in from working on the Blazer all day. I checked for vacuum leaks, MAF sensor voltages, re-seated all connections (easily reachable) and cleaned them. After an extremely long day, I decided I was going to locate the coolant temperature sensor and check it out. After finally locating it, I found that the input harness on the sensor itself had broken off onto the female wire connector. I was stoked to finally see something wrong with a system that is closely related to the problems and symptoms I've been having. I just removed the old temp sensor and am looking forward to replacing it in the morning. Because the 2 prong connector was semi-exposed ( I could see fresh metal of the prongs, looking down) I believe this is causing my intermittent temp gauge drop offs and coincidental RPM drops due to the mixture/ECM information relay being incorrect or inconsistent due to connection problems!
Here is what the plug looked like when I pulled it off of the temp sensor. Notice that the housing of the sensor is on the plug.
Here, I took the broken housing off of the plug:
Lastly, the broken temp sensor with the housing piece the plug had on it.

All Right!!...hope this cures the problem.

After replacing the coolant temp sensor and making a solid connection, the car has been running smoothly. This case is closed!

Another GOOD to read...."Problem solved.".....YES!
