Default Blinker Problem

This just started last night. I was driving at night and noticed that the dash indicator for the right turn signal was not flashing when engaged. Once I got home I checked into things further. When engaged the light in the bumper and the tail light both light up brighter but will not blink. The corner light in the front will turn off. When disengaged the corner light comes back on and the bumper light and rear tail light go back to normal.

I thought the problem was only with the right signal but when testing the same thing happens on the left side when the left signal is engaged. I then tested the hazards. When the hazards are engaged all of the lights work properly. The first thought was to check the fuses. I have checked all the fuses on the drivers side by the door and all of them are good. I also found some relays in the glove box. I could not find any form of labeling to know what they are for but switched them around and nothing changed.

Are there other fuses / relays elsewhere that I should check? I looked under the hood but did not see a box. Is my multi-switch bad? Any help / advise is much appreciated. Thanks

I'd look into the ground on the frame in the rear of the vehicle.

Your Flasher is out. Will it blink at all on either side you try? I had the same problem in my 93 Trans am. you will be looking for something like this http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web..._1162971937___.
You do not hear the flasher clicking when turning the blinker to the left or right side. Both front and back lights stay solid and do not blink.

It will not blink on either side unless I turn on the hazard 4 ways. I now recall that the clicking sound was very weak for about the last year. As long as the turn signals use a different flasher unit than the hazards I think this may be the problem. Does anyone know where this part is located? Mitchell's on demand states that both flasher units are located in the power distribution center. Where is this located? From what I can tell its under the left side of the dash, can anyone verify this?

the turn signal uses a different flasher than your turn signal. here is where it is located " both flashers are next to each other just behind the center of the lower dashboard trim, about 3-4 inches to the left of the ash tray. You have to remove the entire lower dashboard plastic to get to it(about 16 screws). the blinker relay is behind the knee panel just to the left of the cigarette lighter/power plugs. You will see 2 of them, it's the one on the left.

It looked into this tonight. I only needed to remove 2 torque screws from the under dash to remove the correct piece to find the flashers. On mine the blinker was actually on the right and not the left. Either way I figured it out. Thanks for all the help. It was very helpful. I never knew such a think existed and wouldve never been able to find it. Learn something new every day

So did that relay fix your problem? I had the same thing just happen to me and I am afraid of having to tear into my colum to do a R&R on the mutli fuction switch...
