So I scored a one owner 2000 ZR2 Blazer last night, 160k on the clock, really nice overall shape. Has the dreaded rust out ahead of the rear wheels, already have patch panels coming. Mechanically, I have a couple of quick questions for the members-

I need to replace rear brakes; calipers pads and rotors. I was surprised that they didn't ask me if it was a ZR2 when I got prices for the parts. It's a different rear end than a standard S10 Blazer, so does it require special replacement parts? I don't want to get the thing completely apart only to find out the parts don't fit.

Next, the fuel gauge is stuck on full. Is this a common problem? Assume it's a part of the fuel pump which is undoubtedly inside the tank. Looking for the best direction to tackle that problem.

When looking for parts interchangeability, I'll look at the part numbers at the online OEM parts outlets like https://www.gmpartsxperts.com/ for different vehicles. I did this yesterday to confirm the part numbers for the air-bag sensor the mounts under the left front bumper.

The axle for the ZR2 might only be wider than the regular one so you might be ok.

 

The rear axle is 3.9 inches wider than a regular 4x4 Blazer axle. It is also a 8.5 rear rather than a stock blazer 7.6. I would check about brake parts interchangeability between the two axles though.
