Broken/Cracked Air Box

Broken/Cracked Air Box
So today, I was adding some windsheild washer and whatnot and looking over mounting points for my up coming additions and I noticed that my air box was cracked. It is cracked it looks like at the rear right srew area, I didnt mess with it but it seemed tight. Could this be a big problem and how did it get that way, I cleaned my K&N like 1000m ago and it wasnt like this. So additionaly I have a question about the cold air kits for the 4.3, I've notice even in light off roading that sometimes water and muck get up into the engine bay. So thats why Ive always bee hesitant to get an exposed air filter. Anyways thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. And damm the stock air boxes used are expensive.

JB Weld, works like a champ.
As for an intake, you can do a CAI and get a splash guard for it. Basically its a plastic cover you can snap on that deflects much of the water away that comes near the filter. Its still has a hole in the bottom so it can pull air but chances are that you wont pull much if any water into it. Your other option is to get a snorkel for a cherokee or something of the like and modifying it to fit a blazer.

you can also get a moisture repelling sock that go's over the filter.

You won't really notice a big difference in going to a CAI from having your K&N in there...
Plus, you could always gut the box... Something I plan on doing once I find a rivet gun, lol.
I'll see if I can dig up the site I found for ya, if you'd like...
