With mine the front bumper, fender and core support took most of the impact. They said that nothing was damaged and they aligned it. It has been over a year and there has been no issues.

Go for the alignment at a shop you can trust, otherwise "they" might try to sell you an entire front end rebuild.

I hear you. My daughters 99 was pulling so I took it in to the shop down the street for a $65 inspection. They showed me a bad control arm and split boots on two ball joints and the CV and a loose strut mount that was banging around. Strongly recommended replacing all front suspension - get 'er all done at once - for $3,000.

I replaced the strut and control arm for $150 and she reports it "drives like a dream."

I wouldn't omit a split boots on CV joints. Get it done, unless You want to replace axles soon.
