hi,
last year i went to get my a/c refilled and the guy told me my compressor isnt compressing anymore.
he did a leak test for about 20min, then filled the system with freon(it was empty and did not leak, weird...)
once it was done, i turned the a/c on but only had hot air comming out.
we didnt went further, he said you need a compressor and took back his refregerent and only charged me 20$ for the time.
at that time, the compressor turned on and the clutch was cycling when i put the a/c on
that was before i knew about blazerforum.com and all the help that can be found here.
now, when i put the a/c on, nothing happens, the light inside is orange but the clutch doesnt kick on.
yesturday i did the test with the jumper wire on the low pressure side, and the compressor turned on.
i guess this is because im low on refregerent, but how/what are the next steps in troubleshooting my problem ?
i also removed the glove box and all vaccum are working right.
sorry for the log post, i wanted to make sure you have the same info as me !
thanks !
Anthony

yeah there is a low pressure switch usually on the evaporator/dryer so if theres no freon the compressor wont go on. if it was full and the compressor was running then it possible you just need a new compressor

yeah but how can i confirm my compressor is dead ?
and if i end up changing the compressor, i should change the evaporator and orifice tube ? thats it ?

When the system is full of coolant and the compressor is running, one of your A/C lines near the accumulator should be really cold. If not, then the compressor is bad. If you do have a cold line, there are other problems. A search on here will tell you the likely cause.
