Default A/C question

My ac is blowing cold air one minute and then it blows only mildly cool air for a bit and back to cold. Sometimes it blows cold an entire trip sometimes it blows cool for 5 or so minutes before it blows cold again. So.....[sm=wtf.gif]By the way it is hotter than hell in Texas here!![sm=badbadbad.gif]

You probably have a small a/c system leak which should be fixable using a refill kit that u should be able to find at like Advance auto parts or Autozone, even Walmart has it sometimes. Unless Texas is one of those states that isnt allowed to sell the R134A refill kits. If you get a kit it should come with about 2 bottles of refill R134A with mixed in leak stop and a/c oil, a guage and filler nozzle, and directions on how to do it. Otherwise just search for a/c refill on the forums and i am sure there is something telling u how to do it. Otherwise if you cant buy it in texas you could look online for states that do and if your close go and buy some or go to a shop, they can fix it but it will cost you more. If this just started happening, you might have a larger leak, but since you say it blows cold and then not so cool and cool again, it sounds like you just need a top off of fluid and oil.

Therein lies the problem: It has already had a recharge with 134a.

I notice that I can hear something click under the hood when it starts to get cold again. It gets cool and then there is a click and it gets cold, then it gets cool and click there it is cold again.

Any ideas?

The click is probably the A/C compressor kicking on and off, this is what mine did before I refilld it with a R134A kit from Advance Auto parts. How long ago did you refill the system? Check to see what the pressure is now in the system with the guage supplied in the kit. If it low and you just filled it with a refill, then you have a major leak somewhere and will have to go to a shop where they will put in some dye and find the leak and the replace whatver needs to be replaced. Otherwise if the system is as full or about the same the compressor may be going bad or have a loose connection somewhere. Just a few thoughts. Keep us updated on the progress.
