A/C Question
2005 Blazer with manual air conditioner.
My Blazer was these seven options on the control ****.
1 max AC
2 AC
3 Head/Feet
4 Head
5 Feet
6 Windshield/Feet
7 Windshield
Is it normal for the air conditioner pump to come on except for options 4 and 5. Why does it come on for options 6 and 7. If this is normal is there anyway to bypass these. Mainly concerned about the gas milage, if it does not increase the mileage that much will not worry about it.
Thanks in advance for any help

That's the way it is designed to work. Number 1-3 are air conditioning, numbers 4-5 are vent, numbers 6-7 use the defroster which requires the a/c compressor to turn on. No way to bypass this design that I know of.
The A/C kicks on for the defrost modes to aid in removing condensation. A/C removes humidity.
I doubt you would see any difference if you were to change how the HVAC system operates in modes 6 & 7.
