it's not reverse thread on my 02 blazer. I just zipped it off with a pneumatic gun and a spanner wrench made for pneumatic air guns

Spin the nut in the same direction as the fan turns.

I have used a large crecsent wrench and a pry bar quite a few times. Find a pulley bolt where the pry bar can be inserted and not rest directly on a flat (more on a point) of the hex of the fan clutch. Then just turn the large hex with the crescent.

Another method I have used is to have someone hold additional tension on the belt. Then take the large crescent and hit it with a hammer for added shock. This is actually the method I use first.

See if your auto store has a loaner tool for removing the fan.
OReilly has a pamplet listing all of their loaner tools. I keep it next to my tool box. It lists about 50 different tools.
They show a fan clutch wrench set # 67063 which should do the trick.

Thanks for all the input. I went to my local hardware store , found a piece chain the right size for the bolts (water pump pulley) attached it to the nearest empty bolt hole and was able to crack the fan nut.Everything else was downhill from there.
