Default clunking

For the last week or two i have heard a clunking noise from the driver side rear tire every time i hit a bump. Today I replaced the rear shocks hoping that was the problem (one shock was bad the other was good but i replaced both).

When I was done replacing them i took it out for a test drive just to hear the clunking noise is still there. I looked at the leaf spring, i didn't see any cracks or chunks missing.

Any suggestions would be very helpful

I have a 98 blazer 2 wheel drive.

edit: forgot to add some stuff: I did notice when looking at the leaf spring that while looking at it from the side of the car. On the right side of it before you get to the part where its bolted down. There is a rubber piece and right along the rubber piece there is a tiny strip of steel (my guess, could be wrong) that is broken off on one side.

My uncle looked at it and said that it wasn't a big deal.

looked at the U bolts they look tight but I'll check that tomorrow. When i bought my car, it didn't have a jack so i bought a small hydrolic one that just sits in the back. The spare tired isn't loose.

I should also have mentioned that I had 500 lbs of pebble stones in the back for added weight in the winter. I took out all but 150 lbs when the clunking started.
