hello, im wondering if i can swap the gauge cluster from a 98 blazer to a 98 jimmy. will my odometer and everything be ok if i can?

You can swap them, but I don't think your mileage will be correct.

having done this i can tell you that the mileage will be whatever is on the cluster you bought, it will not carry over.
you can get it reprogrammed for 250.00 i think.
needless to say my ride lost 30,000 miles in the swap i know...i know...i have no intent of selling the beast so we're good.

Really, there is no problem with this provided you file a mileage deviation with the dmv.

I would have thought that the mileage was stored in the main computer control system...I guessed wrong. Perhaps it is but it just doesn't get used for that purpose in which case I would be right. That's why I love this place..I'm learning new things about my truck every day.

ya, i thought the same thing dobyken did, figured the main comp. did that. Very good to know! thanks for the quick responses guys. found a 98 blazer almost complete thats being parted out on kijiji.
