Default Coolant hose problem - 2002

Good evening all-

My 2002 started running hot today. I stopped and added some Dex, ran it for fifteen miles, checked again. Reservoir empty. Typical coolant-burning smell.

Looked closer and saw that one of the hoses from the reservoir had come loose down below. Not the one running to the radiator cap, the other one.

I can see a clip down below the belts, but unsure where the hose connects.

I'd be grateful fo any guidance on this.

I believe that hose is the overflow and is not connected to anything.

Yep, it just runs down lower in the engine compartment to keep any overflow from getting all over the place.

Thought I'd post a follow up as it might help someone.

The water pump was bad, and leaking all over the engine compartment. It was working enough to keep the engine 'kind of' cool, but not optimal.

Had is replaced with a new pump, belt and two containers of coolant for $238.
