Disassemble Fuel Pump Module?

Disassemble Fuel Pump Module?
Anyone know how to disassemble the fuel pump module in a 1999 Blazer 2 Door, I removed the cover from the steel gas tank, hit it one with a mallet and it started right up. Fuel filter was changed less then 1k miles ago. Do you think the fuel pump needs to be changed? The truck starts right up now, I just don't want to get stuck if it fails again. I'd rather buy the pump then the whole module (runs about $200 on the low end). Thanks for any help.

RE: Disassemble Fuel Pump Module?
It can be done, but do yourself a favor and replace the whole pump/sending unit assembly. Aftermarket pumps have a horrible tendency to fail much more quickly than the AC Delco or Delphi replacements.

RE: Disassemble Fuel Pump Module?
I would not touch it. Unknown brand == much higher potential for problems. Go with the aforementioned AC Delco or Delphi units. You can find the specific part numbers from RockAuto.com.
