Default Electrical problems after radiator went bad

I have a 1997 Blazer. Last May my radiator went out and sprayed anti-freeze all over the engine compartment. I replaced the radiator and cleaned it up as much as possible, and everything seemed ok. A couple of days later my battery was dead. I charged it up and noticed that the display on my stock radio was staying on when the key was turned off. I found the fuse that supplies power to the memory battery for the radio and removed it. This seemed to temporarily fix the light staying on problem, and the power drain, but obviously the radio/clock has no memory. I thought I could live with this until I had more time to troubleshoot. A couple of weeks later I was driving to work and the car started acting like it was stuck in second gear. I could give the motor more gas, but my top speed was maybe 30 mph. I don't know if I have a separate transmission problem now, or if this could somehow be related to the soaking from the radiator problem I had.
Thanks, Ken
