will a 2003 4.3 engine and auto trans hook up in a 1998 Blazer ? 98 has a W in the vin what year models would fit ??? Does the W in the vin make a difference if the other 2003 had a X in the vin ? Are the vin or letter code stamped on the engine ? is so where are they on the block

 

Talk to your local strip yard-they have access to Hollanders interchange software and should gladly advise(in hopes to make a sale anyway) Search this site,I seem to recall a thread about this regarding many years interchangability as well.

 

I know for a fact that it will hook up, you just have to deal with wiring harnesses and computer swaps for the different engines.

 

cant I just strip the 2003 engine to a bare long block and then put all the rest of the parts on it from the 1998 engine ?? Intake, manifolds, sensors, etc, and use the existing harness and cpu etc thats on the 98 ??
