Default A few questions

He guys great forum you have going here. I recently bought a 2000 blazer LT4x4 4.3L 4 door, and the LED in the stock stereo doesn't light up when the truck is parked. I was wondering if someone could tell my why and how to get it to light up. The truck didn't come with an owners manual so i still have to order one, is there an online version of the manual? The other question is what is the black dome thingy in the passenger side dash speaker grill? I think its for the automatic headlights but not sure and the curiosity is starting to get to me LOL thanks in advance

Default RE: A few questions

What LED are you concerned about on the stereo? Is it possible to take a picture and overlay an arrow? My Bravada stereo isn't exactly the same as those used in the Chevy/GMC variants.

For the manual, sign up at MyGMLink.com and put in the details of your vehicle. You don't have to put in the VIN if you don't want to. In the 'Glovebox' section, there will be a link to download the digital copy of the owners manual.

You are correct on the sensor in the left speaker grill. It is for the automatic headlights.

Default RE: A few questions

Driveby,

I have an LS model with the same stereo and I went out to check it, my light is not on either. I looked at my manual and there was no indication in there as to what that indicator light does. I have to options: 1. Is with the TheftLock system activation or 2. The Aux indicator to show that some other device might be plugged in?????

Well my first guess was right....and here is the document information..

Radio/Audio System Operation-Theftlock
The THEFTLOCK system is designed in order to discourage theft of the radio. The system uses a secret code in order to disable all radio functions whenever battery power is removed. The THEFTLOCK feature for the radio may be used or ignored. If the feature is ignored, the system plays normally and is not protected by the feature. When THEFTLOCK is activated, the radio displays LOC in order to indicate a locked condition any time battery power is removed. When the battery loses power for any reason, you must unlock the radio with the secret code in order for the radio to operate.
Activating the Theft Deterrent Feature
The following instructions explain how to enter the secret code that is needed in order to activate the THEFTLOCK system.

Important
If more than 15seconds passes between steps, the radio automatically shows the time and you must start over at step4.

Write down any 3-digit or 4-digit number ranging from 000-9999.
Turn the ignition to the ACCESSORY or RUN position.
Turn the radio off.
Press the 1 and 4 buttons together. Hold the buttons down until -- shows on the display.
Press MN. The display will show 000.
Press MN again in order to make the last 2digits agree with the code.
Press HR in order to make the first 1or 2digits agree with your code.
Press AM-FM after you have confirmed that the code displayed matches the secret code. The display will show REP and you must repeat steps5-7 in order to confirm the secret code.
Press AM-FM and the display will show SED in order to advise that the radio is secure. The indicator near the volume control will begin flashing when the ignition is turned to the OFF position.
Unlocking the Theft Deterrent Feature after a Lock-up
Use the following procedure in order to unlock the theft deterrent feature:

Important
Do not allow more than 15seconds to lapse between steps.

Turn the ignition to the ON position. LOC will appear.
Press MN and 000 will appear on the display.
Press MN again in order to make the last 2digits agree with the code.
Press HR in order to make the first 1or 2digits agree with your code.
Press AM-FM after you have confirmed that the code matches the secret code. [/ol]
The display will show SEC. The radio is now operable and secure. If the incorrect code is entered 8times, INOP displays. In order to reenter the code, you must wait 1hour with the ignition ON. When you try again, you will have 3chances to enter the code before INOP displays.
Disabling the Theft Deterrent Feature
Use the following procedure in order to disable the theft-deterrent feature.

Important
Do not allow more than 15seconds to pass between steps.

Turn the ignition to the ACCESSORY or RUN position.
Turn the radio off.
Press the 1 and 4 buttons together. Hold them down until SEC displays.
Press MN and 000 will display.
Press MN again in order to make the last 2digits agree with the code.
Press HR in order to make the first 1or 2digits agree with the code.
Press AM-FM after you confirm that the code matches the secret code.
The display still shows -- indicating that the radio is no longer secure. If the code entered is incorrect, SEC will appear on the display. The radio will remain secured until the correct code is entered.

Ok thanks for the replies I got it to work. I plan on putting in an aftermarket stereo, but I'll probably wait a few months till I find exactly what i want. Thanks again for the help.
