Do the tow hooks on a '99 Blazer mount under the frame or inside the frame? Mine has none and the plastic piece under the bumper has a straight piece of plastic through the opening that won't allow installation of hooks anyhow. This is a ZR2 so I'm thinking the piece under the bumper must've been replaced at some time with another and the hooks had to be removed.

 

They sit inside the frame on top of the button portion of the rail with the bolts passing from the bottom of the rail up.

My base 05 never had them from the factory

Most guys round up a set from 1/2 ton 4X4 p/u if they are planning on using the hooks
They are a heavier hook

 

So maybe it never had them. You can't put them on with the non-hook bumper valance, I don't think. Thanks for the reply.
