So I have noticed that older chevys fuel gauges will move alot with stopping and going...if I am at a half tank I can make mine vary by a half tank in both directions just by accelerating and braking...is there anyway to fix this?

 

Check out the Crazy Gas Gauge thread. Most likely your sending unit is toast or on its way out.

Mine's been bad for a while now. I just use the trip odometer and fill up every 250 miles. This keeps me from ever running out of gas and also guarantees the pump is submerged in fuel at all times. The pump itself overheats if you run the tank to empty because it uses the fuel to cool off.

 

I know that but its not what I am asking. it should be good anyways I had to replace it once before. what I am saying is that my gas guage moves. if I accelerate my gas guage goes up if I brake my gas gauge goes down. I ahve a camaro that does the same thing. I have driven 2 97 chevy pickups that do the same thing. as well as another 96 chevy blazer that does it. no is there a way to stop it?
