fuel mileage

19-20 MPG is as good as it gets for us island folks in my 2000 Blazer; a 3 mile straight stretch is a luxury before coming to either a curve or a grade of some sort. With gas at $4.27/gallon, keeping under 60 also helps. But hey, the price for paradise, right?

Hey now! We aren't all bad. I am retiring my Ford to trailer duties and buying a ZR2. Doesn't that count for anything?

I just did the MFI upgrade and switched to ethanol free gas and I am getting 24 on the highway +20 in city/mixed driving. 2000 Jimmy 4x4 Auto with Michelin X Radials and K&N Air Filter. Before the MFI upgrade I was getting between 18-20 MPG.

I am pleased to see several Blazers with 4WD getting 24 mpg on the Hwy. That is a lofty goal for me to shoot for. Maybe I'lll be forced to drop in a LSx V8 with 7 speed manual trans in my 2 door Blazer.....Just a daydream. Back to the real world! I am glad I stayed with the stock tires sizes when I bought a new set recently.37 lbs. of pressure in all four tires. No roof rack. Time for a tune up for the 4.3L.

I just returned from a 400 mile trip and found I was getting 23 MPG in my 1998 4X4 4 door (It averages 20 MPG in the mountains where I live) So I have no complaints. Not bad for a former city police K9 unit.
Does Irk me that gas went up fifteen cents a gallon while I was on the road. Grrr
