Ok got a few more issues. Took it on a few hundred mile trip and it did alright but not great. At hwy speeds she moves but if you have to accelerate to pass someone or to get up a hill it seems like it has no power. And I noticed at about 2500-2700 RPM it seems to "lag" or "skip" through the acceleration. Lower RPMs and town driving it seems fine for the most part.

Completely different issue or could be related in some way... My radiator sprang a small leak at the plastic cap thing. So put a new radiator in. And sitting for any amount of time or anything the truck still starts over heating... Could it all be linked to a faulty coolant temp sensor that's not throwing a code? Or should I start worrying about a blown head?

Have you checked camshaft retard? Must be done with a scan tool capable of accessing it. The overheating at idle could be a faulty thermostat or fan clutch. Probably not an issue with a head or the ECT sensor.

I have an efan so no fan clutch to worry with. I'll do a tstat change on it and see been a long day didn't even think about that one. And no I don't have access to a scan tool at the moment. But I can probably get access to one.

If the electric fan was coming on, it shouldn't over heat. If it overheated with the fan on, I would suspect a faulty thermostat.
