Ctsy Fuse keeps blowing
Having a problem with a ctsy fuse blowing and when it blows the push button indicator light for my 4wd goes out and 4wd won't work. The interior lights not working isn't that big of a deal but would like to know why it takes out my 4wd.The 4wd fuse never blows but quits working. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Oh it's a 98 blazer btw.

This post has the wiring diagrams that should lead you to the answer of why the CTSY fuse caused the lights to go out. I don't have access to photobucket from work so I can't view my own posted images... But I know what's in there.

To anyone having the same issue with with the #8 ctsy fuse blowing instantly and disabling the 4x4 function and interior lights, I have just fixed this on a 2004 blazer zr-2 for a customer. He made the mistake of putting in a 30 amp fuse and melted some wires which made it harder for me to diagnose but after repairing the wires behind the fuse block i isolated the short to the driver side sun visor,as soon as i took the 3 screws out and the visor came down i saw that the wires were completely melted together up to the connector.I simply unhooked it and replaced the the 10 amp fuse and everything woke up,4x4 lights work and it engages and all related components are working properly.its very easy to check the visor wiring so i hope this helps someone.Took almost 5 hours to diagnose and repair.Electrical isn't for the faint of heart!

Since that fuse is for just about all the enterior lights...you are going to need to check all of them. Try the easy ones first....the two footwell lights....perhaps one of the mounting screws went into one of the wires.
The glovebox light is probably next in line as easy to get to. Just drop the door down and pull the lens off to pull the light and wiring down.
I do not have a wiring diagram for this fuse and only going from memory as to what lights go out when pulling the fuse.
Did you disconnect the sunvisor lights when you had them down? It could be a wire inside the sunvisor itself....unlikely, but something to try to see if the fuse still blows.
Good luck
