Default RE: Fuel pump?

I have a similar problem in my Saturn, apparently for that make and model vehicle the fuel pump has a check valve that will keep the fuel line pressurized while the car is off. The faulty check valve lets pressure drop when the engine is off so the car needs a few seconds to build pressure in the fuel line before it will start after turning the key. I don't know if Blazers have a similar setup but it could be something along the same lines. Do you have a slow leak in the fuel line, maybe at one of the quick disconnect fittings on top of the fuel tank or at the fuel filter?

They don't have to be a grand. The labor book says about $200 on the replacement, plus you can get a new pump easily for $275 - if you're willing to look and you have your customer's best financial interests at heart.

My ex-mechanic is a crook and I told him so.

Getting a fuel filter today. We'll try that first.

It's definitely the ignition swtich. That's what sends power to your dash lights and your fuel pump. I have this same problem. It was very intermittent. Eventually the ignition switch quit entirely on it's own. Ignition switches are only 114 from www.napaonline.com. That's better than your 1000 fuel pump. And if the ignition switch is bad, you're going to fail a fuel pressure test, because the pump will not get power.
