Gas gauge not working

I have a 2000 S10 Blazer. The fuel gauge does not work. Is there a way to diagnose the problem? Is there a diagram that would help?

This is a common problem with lots of information available in other threads. A search for "fuel+gauge" would turn up a lot. You can further refine it by adding more words separated by a plus (+) sign.
