Default Gas pedal height or throttle cable adjustment?

Hello,

I just bought a 98 Blazer 4dr with 59k miles. It's got a couple minor issues, but overall it's very clean. I've owned a 96 S-10 PU and most recently a 2001 Silverado.

I've got a handle on all of the problems I've found except this one. The brake pedal is about 3" farther from the firewall than the gas pedal. It looks like the gas pedal is opening the TB ok, but there's quite a bit of slop in the cable and the pedal is way too low for my taste. I can't see any adjustment on the throttle cable. I'm really tempted to pull the gas pedal assy and do a little customizing.

Anyone have a fix for this before I use the brute force method?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

From every blazer and s-10 ive driven the gas pedal is noticeably behind the brake petal and that is perfectly normal. Heck my 04 old's alero, 07 silverado, 05 silverado, and 94 grand prix were all that way too. Aside from making a relocation bracket out of flat steel or just brute force there isnt really a way to fix that.

I honestly can't remember how my S-10 was, but I don't remember such a huge difference with my Silverado.

I might pull the pedal assy this weekend and take a look. It's noticable enough that my wife made a coment about it and she's not a motorhead by any strech of the imagination.

Before taking out the assy check the other gas pedals of some other Blazers at local lots. Make sure that someone did not bend the pedal arm or that the cable is not stretched. Another possibility is that someone replaced the cable with a longer version from another vehicle.
