Truth is all S-Blazers with an automatic had over drive when built. Regardless of how the gear indicator is marked.

700R4/4L60 (1983–1992) 4L60E (1993 up)

Truth is most Blazers get crappy mileage.

Truth is the EPA ESTIMATE is not a guarantee.

It is often far from the actual mileage since the test is done on a Dyno - Indoors, perfect temp and humidity, and NO wind or air resistance. Important to a vehicle shaped like a shoe box.
Anyone who has a non overdrive trans put it in their Blazer or a PO did. Done a lot in early engine swaps when the gear heads of the day loved the old TH350's.

Truth is anyone who says his automatic Blazer came with anything other than the 2 transmissions listed above doesn't know very much about Blazers and is suffering from a rectal cranial inversion.

Just the facts, mam.

However, when I compare our little Blazers to the smallest body-on-frame SUVs you can get now that are much larger, I realize that it would have been pretty hard to cram as much as they did into our trucks without burying half of the key parts behind other parts.

However, I do have very little sympathy for the engineers who came up with the lousy LIM gasket design and the leaky oil cooler lines. Whoever was responsible should have been made to penance by replacing 100 of each for no pay. LOL

just to get back to the topic here. Is it possible your gear shift indicator could be incorrect because the shift cable is out of adjustment? I know mine does wierd things. For me, i know im in drive w/ overdrive because i dont have an indicator light. It flashes sometimes but im 90% its just my shift cable. Is it possible also that you have a leaky spider injector causing it to dump more fuel than it needs to in the engine? Just trying to put some of my thoughts on paper.
