It is just a crap shoot if you buy a used engine, no matter what the seller tells you. You may be buying some other persons headaches. It is better to buy a rebuilt engine from a reputable rebuilderunless you are trying togettheBlazer running just long enough tosell it.

Well I am just trying to get it running for the moment. It'll be a play toy I guess you'd say, I have a 92 explorer 2x4 and I'm tired of getting stuck lol. But that thing is my DD and I just need somthing better for mud. If the used motor doesend up being a lemon then I'll do the rebuild.I just need to know what year motor will drop right in now that I know a 2x4 will not thanks for that info Duntov.

So nobody knows whatyear blazer I can pull a 4.3 vortecfrom to go in my 95?? I've been searching but havn't come up with anything remotly usefull, maybe I havn't typed in the right words in my searches. If somone can help me out please chime in.

If you can find a 95 engine that would be best(obviously). There are 'some' emmissions stuff on a 95 that are not on a 94 although to the naked eye these vortecs look the same from 92-95. 96 is COMPLETELY different. I'm not 100% sure a 94 wouldn't work but again...the evap stuff is there on a 95 and in 94 there wasn't much of it and how much work you'd have to do I'm not sure-that is if it can be done at all. Sure it can be but...get a 95. Thats my 2 cents worth! JP[:'(]

To be sure of interchange, only purchase a 1995 engine with the sam casting number as your old one. Two of the1993-1994block casting numbers that were also used in 1995 are 10227196 and 10235359. Even if you purchase a 1995 engine, with one of those two numbers, a mid-year change in 1995 can cause problems that involve the front timing chain cover. The 1992 through early 1995 engine used a tall metal timing cover with ten bolt holes and the late 1995 timing cover was a plastic timing cover with eight bolt holes. If the block has ten front cover holes, you can use either the 1992-early 1995 tin timing cover or the late 1995 plastic timing cover. Do not use the early 1995 tin timing coverwith the late 1995 block that used a plastic cover because it will leak oil. Some 1995 blocks are drilled and tapped for a knock sensor and some are not. Most rebuilders will drill and tapp both holes for knock sensors so the hole will be where it is needed. Seewww.blainesmotorsupply.com for engines.
