Horrible misfire - no one knows answer
#11
Well, here is the latest. Replaced Cap, wires, plugs, as mentioned. Runs great when it does start. Cold start very hard to do. Once running, good response and all. Fuel pressure check, only 50 lbs and bleeds of immediatly after shutting off the key. Bleeds off about a lb per minute.
Replacing the fuel pump and the filter tomorrow, if I can get it started.....

Key ON, engine OFF, fuel pump running: pressure must be 60psi to 66psi and must remain above 55psi for at least 10 minutes after the pump shuts off. If it fails either or both parts of this test, it means there is a problem with fuel delivery and further testing is necessary to pinpoint the problem. The problem is NOT necessarliy the fuel pump. At this point the fuel pump would be a guess. The fuel pressure tester must be adapted to connect directly to the fuel filter so all fuel flow and pressure "dead ends" at the tester, no fuel flow can be allowed to flow to the injectors. Fuel pump running, pressure must be 73psi to 108psi and remain above 55psi for at least 10 minutes after the pump shuts off. If it fails either or both parts of this test, check battery voltage and resistance to ground at the fuel pump module. If that checks good, the pump needs replacement. Post your results.
FYI: these vehicles are very fussy when it comes to replacement parts: Use AC Delco only, especially the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and fuel pump. These are NOT parts to cut corners on and try to save money
