Default I should not be able to..

remove the key from the ignition when a) the truck is running(in the on position) and b) the truck is in drive?

If the answer is no..then I think I may have a lead in my battery dying problem.

Any thoughts

Don

I had that issue when I had an 84 S10. They key and tumbler were so worn I could remove the key while its running. That is why its a good idea to have spare keys and not to hang a pound of other keys off the keychain.

yea...the ignition tumbler is on it's way out...new ones are cheap and not to bad to replace...if you leave it long enough it will leave you stranded and not start

Default thats what I thought

I have intermittently had a problem where the battery light would stay on and the door chimes would still chime(when the engine off and key removed). It has not done it for a while now but I am suspecting now that the ignition switch is the cause of all or most of my problems

Thank you all..You rock
Don
