Ignition key sticks in switch
With ever-increasing frequency, my key will not come out of the ignition switch when I shut off my 2004 ZR2. Sometimes I can rattle the shift lever back and forth and click the reverse-lockout button and the key will then rotate and come out of the switch. But it's gotten to the point that every time I stop and park, I spend five or ten minutes turning the key on and off, stepping on the brake pedal and sliding the shifter back and forth while I press the button. It's driving me crazy(er).
How is this wired up? Where are the parts that make it lockout and trigger the key lock? Is there a button under the shifter, or a switch inside the **** beside the button? Or is it in the brake ... or the switch .... or ........ or ..................... AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!
HELP!
