Default Just have to ask about possible fuel pump

I have a 2001 blazer 4.3 and on the way home the thing suddenly decides it is not going much faster than 20 regardless how deep my foot was in it.

It was the longest 3 miles I have ever driven.

Over the past 2 days here is how this thing has been: It will start right up without issue. Idles just dandy. Heck I left it outside running for the better part of a half hour without issue.

I can sit in it and "blip" or rev it up to 2000rpm and it is just fine with recovery back down to idle.

The first time I try to rev it above 2000rpm it goes into choke and die mode. TYrying to start it right after that is tough. If it starts at all....

So it starts right up the first time I try it on a daily basis but is acting fuel starved as soon as I try to rev over 2000 rpm.

And no, I have not even thought about trying to drive it....

From all the surfing/searching on this forum it seem that the fuel pump would be the obvious choice of whats wrong.

What I am wondering is: Has anyone ever ran into this and found it to be something besides the fuel pump? IE: clogged to the 9 hole fuel filter, etc.

Before I start the painful process of dropping the tank and spending money I "kinda" have I would like to hear the calvary come charging over the hill proclaiming: "It's just the Schmeezer-relay not properly tripping the Doo-hickey-valve." Run down to Napa and pay a whole (Insert super cheap price here) and your problem is solved!!!!"

Well I can dream anyway,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

people keep jacking up the pressure req'd.

Pretty sure the regulator keeps it under 65 lbs.
key on eng off 60 - 62 is good. leakdown: over 50 at ten minutes later.
running: not under 50 at wide open throttle goose

Before even thinking of dropping tank, I'd check that fuel filter.. if I were you.
If it happened to mine I'd even do that.

But it would be the last thing I'd expect becuase I am careful where I buy my gas

Default Check....

As previously noted check filter & preasure. Way back in the day I had an old V-8 that did a similar thing, and it ended up being a tired coil.

Good Luck

In fact, it's the CLASSIC coil breakdown symptom. But that was when coils were in cans. Still may be the coil but need to make sure you are getting gas. Why.. cuz if it's NOT the coil then where ya goin...
