Default Key is getting stuck

I have a 2003 blazer ZR2. Lately, when I turn the ignition off the key will not turn the whole way back to the point where I can pull it out. After shaking the wheel and the key a little bit it will eventually come out though. I was looking for a permanent fix because it's starting to get annoying having to wiggle the key back and forth Everytime I shut it off. Thanks!

Default New blazer same problem

Hi all new to this site because I just bought this 98 Blazer Friday night for my daughter to use as general transportation.
Haven't got plates on it yet, waiting for dmv to open Monday. I drove it twice this weekend, short trips to store and get gas for lawn mower just to get acquainted with it. This morning I moved it to back of driveway so wife and I can get out first thing in morning, key won't turn back and can't remove. No issues other times. Never heard of this before with any vehicle. Is this a common chevy problem?
Had a 99 Blazer couple years back, never had issues. Do I need to pull the cylinder?
Thanks for reading, I'm sure I'll have more questions as we go.

To both posters if vehicle is a column shift, lift up on the shifter a bit towards park, linkage could be out of adjustment, also in some years the brakes need to be applied

Thumbs up Easy cylinder removal

This just happened to me, be lucky the key is stuck in because you need to turn the key to start to remove the lock cylinder. Take off the shroud from around the lock cylinder and you will see a small hole below the lock cylinder. Turn the key to start with the battery disconnected and push a pin in the hole to release the lock cylinder and pull it out. A new cylinder from Orilley cost about $50. Just insert the cylinder and turn it off. The cylinder is now installed. You get 2 keys but they are not keyed the same a the door locks so keep your old keys.
