Late model EGR location

Late model EGR location
I bought an engine that I was told was a 2001 and upon transfering accessories to new motor, I cant find the EGR valve to hook my exitsting EGR valve connector to. Its not in the usual location up front on the intake manifold. I heard a rumor that it may be internal. But where do you hook up the connector? Any info on this is much appreciated. Thanks, Eric

RE: Late model EGR location
Most likely it was a 2002+ engine. If that is the case, you will have to swap over your lower intake to the replacement motor. You can use all of the other items on teh intake from the replacement, but use the lower intake and your old EGR valve and you should be good to go.
I've never seen the inside of a 2002+ motor. If you wouldn't mind snaping some pictures and noting the differences, that would help out greatly!

RE: Late model EGR location
I think this change happened the same time that the MFI spider went into use which would have been sometime mid-2002.

RE: Late model EGR location
I have an '02 that left the dealer's lot in Dec '01 and it does not have the external EGR valve.

RE: Late model EGR location
You have to remember that the 2002 model year started selling sometime in March-'01. The first few months of production were using up the previous inventory.

Yep, I figured that's why I don't have it. Of course, with my luck they didn't stickthe better spider on mine.
