If it's a fuel pump problem, then the problem is getting current to the pump, not the pump itself. Since it works when you aren't starting it from your battery, I'm still thinkin' electrical connections.

I am undecided about Duralast parts at the moment. I just started using them, and so far haven't had any trouble.

I'm takin it to a mechanic in a couple days, but I'm pretty sure that a fuel pump will be in line to be purchased. Does anyone have recomendations for brand or type? I know that I can get an OE style, in-tank pump at autozone for about $78, but if there's a performance type I can get I might consider it. Thanks again.

OK, forgive me if this has been suggested....I started skimming posts.

have you ever had a battery fail....by fail leak acid at the post? I had this happen and I was left stranded for a couple hours until I decided to check the cables (about a month or two after the battery broke) and I was geting no power to the truck at all. Once I went to take the cable off I had corrotion just pooring out of the cable. I was able to clean it enough to get going but I have seen this a few times and it is the last place you would look.

Very true! AC Delco batteries are known for acid leaks on the positive terminal. My Bravada did this and one day just didn't have any power. Jump started it, then proceeded to start it under its own power for 10 consecutive starts. After I let it sit for 10 minutes, absolutely no power again. Replace the battery and haven't had the problem again.

^ Yep. AC Delcos about 4 years old. Teh positive post likes to corrode away inside tha battery. Every thing looks normal to the anked eye, until you remove the cables.
