never head this happen...
Went to the local salvage yard to get a replacement stock shifter handle (looks like prior owner had a dog and left it in the blazer unattended and it used the shifter handle as a chew toy) for my 99 Zr2 5speed, found a nice one and removed it no problem. Apon attempting to remove mine... And keep in mind I took the whole shaft with handle (thinking this would be easiest). Mine ended up coming apart from the threaded end, leaving just a big chunk of rubber like 4 inches tall with the threaded part still attached and the shifter handle with now hollow steel tube... Tried gripping on the rubber & that's no good! Nervous about trying to heat it up! Any thoughts would be appreciated...thanks in advance!!!!
