New trans now no start..
Okay, so I've taken a few days break from this nightmare that's going to have my poor old dad freaking out anytime now.. I have a mustang and a Bravada engulfing his shop and I know he's not happy about the mess.. If I can remove the Bravada from the equation I'll be good to go.. lol.. Anyways.. I'm wondering if the glue in this NSS isn't causing me problems.. I'm going to heat them for awhile and see if i cant get it all to run off of it first.. but I've conjured up a little checklist of problem solving.. any help on a better direction to take would be generous to say the least... but first a little recap on the entire problem..
The transmission went out, I rebuilt, replaced it on my own. First off I will say I can turn the flywheel and torque converter over fine so its not bound, not the problem. Anyway, the truck won't even try to start when I hit the key. Dash, stereo and all that works, even clicks underneath the truck at what I assume is the solenoid on the starter from the sound. Either way I suspected the Neutral Safety Switch so I replaced it breaking the old one taking it off accidently. After changing the switch with the transmission in the N position (like instructed in new switches instructions) I noticed the shifter will no longer come out of Park. But if I plug the old switch back in it will come out of park. I also noticed that with the new switch I have no blinkers, no hazards, and no brake lights when I press the pedal other than the top center lights.. I havnt checked the lights with the old switch yet.
So my plan is to
1. heat plugs and remove any glue that might be on them and I'm going to plug them back in the new switch and check all functions I mentioned for fault.
2. I'm going to chang to the old switch and check all functions for fault.. (not sure what else to do there)
3. I'm going to jump power at the solenoid to the starter and see if it'll start..
4. If I can't get to the solenoid to jump power to the starter I'm going to try to pull it all the way down again.. last time I was under there I couldn't get it out..
What else should I do guys? I'm getting ready to head out there now and mess with it so I'll update my findings..

Okay now I'm starting to wonder about a major ground I couldve missed or something because I have no power windows or moon roof now either... Im getting pissed.. Can anyone name every connection in a trans swap? could the bolt loop on the pass side top of the trans for the bellhousing bolt to go thru thats attached to the harness not being bolted up be my problem? It wasnt before....
do you have a wire pinched between the trans and the block?
when i did mine i just plugged the harnesses back in the connectors (got lucky i guess) fired up no problem. have you looked at the connections on the rest of the trans? there is a ground on the top of the block (pass side) that goes to fire wall. but when i did my trans i never took it off. look at the grounds by starter. when i did my stang swap i had a issue on the starter connections and ground. would click all day but wouldnt turn over...freaked me out because i had torn so much out that it could have been anywhere.

Thats exactly what happend to me.. I was extra freaked out because I have been through so much here.. After tightening and loosening up the connections several times ( I guess just working the glue around in there) I got back my tailights, and blinkers somehow and got it out of Park.. Then undid my starter and flipped it over and sure enough, the remote wire from the NSS had been twisted off of the starter somehow.. I guess the lesson learned was be more careful w the starter and never assume.. Btw.. My first trans rebuild using youtube is now a total sucess.. Thanks for the help guys!
Oh ya.. And.. I forgot to mention..for some reason the power windows and moon roof still wont work even tho everything is working now.. Idk how to check the style of big fuse thats in the panel for the power windows.. I also noticed that the overhead console just reads -- no matter what mode you scroll through.. What next? Anyone have a wiring diagram for power windows, moon roof and wherever the overhead console gets its info?
