No Heat - Fuel Gauge - Sway Problem
hey everyone new here and have a few questions about the 2000 Blazer 4dr 4x4 i just bought (124,000km). first off i know i'm supposed to put the specs of my rig as a signature thingy but it ain't workin for me.. but will try to fix it tommorrow and add some pics if it's not raining or snowing lol... ok i did a free vin # search on the net and i got2 diffmodels i guess not sure which one is right...first wasfrom carfax and this said..

so which one is the right one lol.. and i'm guessing LS is for luxury sport and LT is for light truck maybe..???
anyway back to the point.. the night we bought the truck i checked around on this site quite a bit and told my gf the next day about some of the problems people on here have had with their Blazers and low and behold the next day i get that fuel gauge gas gauge problem where the needle would bounce all over the place in park or neutral and as soon as you would put it in gear it would stay at where it was when it was put in gear.. the guy who sold us the truck had it repaired for us and he showed me how at the top of the float there is a like a mini metal gas gauge that had 3 needles or something and after a few years apparently these needles wear done and don't make contact properly.. he said it's even the happening with the newer cars and trucks.. and chev should have recalled them all along time ago.. but that's neither here nor there.. i just posted that for the future help of others
now my first actual question lol.. last night the truck suddenly stopped blowing heat.. it's almost like the air conditiong is on max but hard to tell because it's been around -20 celsius the past few days.. but my dad thinks the thermostat is stuck open.. but you'd think if that was the case that the coolant wouldn't really heat up at all... because the tempature gauge shows normal tempatures as if everything was fine... any help would be greatly appreciated..
also i noticed the other day that there were no rear speakers on.. it has the origanal cd deck still and i tried the fade and nothing from the back.. i checked to make sure there were speakers back there (lol) and there was in the back doors.. the next day while waiting for the gf i just decided to try them again and they were working but seemed really low.. now i don't know much about stereos and speakers in cars but isn't most of the bass sound supposed to come from the rear speakers...??? i played with all the diff settings on the deck andit didn't make any diff...i sat in the back and even had the gf try playing with it and still the same..i had to turn the fade button almost halfway to the back tobalance out the speakers..then today.. no rear speakers again... is this a difficult thing to fix..??? any help and tips on these problems or my Blazer would be greatly appreciated... ha ha how's that for a second post for ya lol THX again to anyone and everyone..
oh yeah i just remembered something else to ask lol are the 2000 4dr blazers known for body roll on the highway... i've driven mostly cavaliers and sunbirds most of my life except for a 93 ranger Ext. cab4x4 4.0L and a crap 91 Dakota 4x4 and nothing i have driven seems to float as much as the blazer.. on the highway it seems like your on cloud nine for the flo

well first off the trailblazer was first a special model blazer in its first years. then it finally changed and replaced the blazer for good.
as for the heat, iy seems the coolant isnt even getting a chance to warm up before it hits the core, so a thermostat change wont hurt. they run around 11 bucks so it cheap and easy.
the spaekers sound like a bad set of wires going to the rears. painstakingly check. maybe invest in a new head unit and rewire all the speakers just for piece of mind.
finally if ur blazer is floating worse then an old cadillac then ur just really change ur shocks , montroe sensatrax work the best.

sounds like your heater coil is probably clogged up. I just had to do this acouple of weeks ago. open your hood and on the left side you'll see two hoses going into your firewall there right beside each other one is alittle bigger then the other. take them both off and take a water hose and see if water runs thru it most likely its clogged and you'll have to flush is out with alittle water pressure. put the water hose on the right side as your looking at it from the front i had to use a nozzle on my hose to get it to unclog. once its flushing out and looks clean do it the opposite direction.
thanks for the info guys.. i posted that post last night before bed..but phoned my dad just after and he suggested the same as rooster (thermostat).. so i got up first thing this morning and went to local chev dealer and bought a thermostat.. changed it.. went for a run and let it warm up but still the same amount of heat but a little more heat than before..my dad then suggested the heater core must need to be flushed (Texasmudder suggested)so we decided to go back to the guy we bought it from seeing as we never even had it 30 days yet and my dad could get a chance to take it for a run.. he said it was a shock or sway bar or something that is probably causing the ride problem.. it seems once you get past about 80 kmh she's all over the place.. but anyway another long story short lol the guy we bought it off is going to fix everything.. and i will let you know how it goes.. and THX again for the help
if under warranty, have them check alinement at good front end shop may be idler arm, may also need ball joints ,etc. let him pay for it if under warranty. how does the rad. cap look, nice and clean or muddy? if muddy the whole system needs flush and pressure test for leaks, then new dexcool or prestone "yellow" not the old green.
well the blazer went in the garage this morning and the guy phoned the gf to pick it up at dinner time..the guy said he flushed the heater core and that it was a common problem with blazers.. he had her running when we got there so i couldn't check to see if he flushed the old coolant out topped it up.. and the gf needed to take it back to work so i won't get a chance to look until later tonight.. but before i put it in the garage i did notice a little bit of pink/red colored crusty around the radiator cap.. but now i have another problem.. when i kick the truck downby putting the accelerator down at least halfway i canhear a running water sound from the passenger side of the dash.. an almost gurgling sound.. but only when she kicks down..any ideas..??? seeing as the guy just flushed the heater core..?? and about the "floating" feeling.. first thing he said was did you check your air pressure.. and me like a dummy never even thought of it lol but he said he couldn't see a new set of shocks making any difference.. so when we picked it up he said he couldn't see anything wrong except that 2 tires had 20psi.. 1 had 23.. and the other 22 or someting.. now i cant see that making that much of a difference to the ride seeing as the the mostany of themwere off by was 3 psi ...but maybe he is right.. i won't know until i take it for a runtonight when the gf gets home.. i'm more worried about the gurglingwater sound from the passenger side of the dash.. any ideas..??and yes we bought it with a 2 year warranty on all the running gearalong withgaskets and seals..
As for the gurgling sound, that is mostlikely air still in the system. It may take a bit to work out and you will definitely want to make sure to keep the radiator and coolant res filled up. Check it often, but if it continues to do it after a few days of driving it, take it back and complain.
You'd have to look on the sticker in your door, but I'm pretty sure that the recommended tire pressure is 32psi so if they all were down in the low 20's, then yeah, you could definitely get some float from that. If it still feels like a boat, then I would recommend new shocks. My truck floated around quite a bit when I first bought it, now it rides nice and firm.

another update from me lol... well as i said in my other post wehad the truck in the garage the other day for the ABS problem and i asked about the sway feeling that i was noticing... in the past 30 days since we bought the truck it has been back at the garage 3 times.. first time for the famous "fuel gauge" problem which was repaired and paid for by the used auto dealer we bought it from.. second time for the other famous one "no heat" problem which they fixed and paid for but i alsoasked about the sway feeling i was gettingto which i was told there was no problem exceptfor tire pressure butthe problem was still there.. and this past third time for the ABS problem(which you can read about in my other post "ABS question") and asked them about the sway problem again.. when the girlfreind picked it up that afternoon the mechanic told her thetruck needed a wheel alignment bad because the inside if the right front passenger was wearing.. and told her it was bad enough that if we put a new set of tires on that tire would only last 2 months... phoned the dealer and played phone tag for a day and was told they would fix the ABS speed sensor problem which is on the same wheel that was wearing the inside of the tire.. but the bosswouldn't pay for the wheel alignment.. so the yesterday i went and got one done and after waiting an hour i was told it would take a couple more hours because 2 of the sleeves (can't remember what they were called) were seized solid and she was out a mile and would need to be shimmed up.. but that everything else was fine.. so i figured for sure that had to be the problem and the problem was fixed.. but it's not lol...
the only thing i can figure is that like posted above.. i must have a weak shock.. because it seems that after going over an over pass or making right hand turns on the highway the vehicle seems very "tippy"... like it it's teedoring/rocking on an angle but if i'm driving straight with no bumps in the roador making left hand turns it seems fine.. so after all that my question is.. is there a way to find my supposed bad shock if i had one without replaing the bunch..??? and also approx. how muchdoes the average set of shocks for a 2000 blazer cost..??? THX again
