No power after fill-up
I quick found some instructions on doing it the right way, didn't read through the page, but these guys are usually good with their tips. Most important thing is you use a gauge that reads down to at least single psi. A normal compression gauge won't work. Vacuum gauges are what I use because they also show low psi accurately.

KYou might also want to reach out to Transman and Christine, see if they know of any transmission issues that could cause a stall unless running through gears. My auto trans knowledge is limited. But I would guess that the EVAP problem and the stalling problem could be two issues feeding off each other...or just plain two different issues. But I would still check back pressure.
As an update, I started working through your procedure from earlier. The vapor canister checked out ok. I did have leaks up by the manifold. There is a plastic line about 6-8" long that connects to the purge solenoid. There are rubber pieces connecting either end of the plastic hose. Replaced those with some 5/16" fuel line I had lying around, and it created and held 10" of vacuum.
I'll work through the rest of the procedure tonight and update accordingly

Though the vapor canister tested fine for leaks, I still would get a new one. I feel really good that it is not doing it's job anymore. BTDT. But that will probably only address the fuel smell. There's something else going on outside of the EVAP. That MityVac tool is great one to have in the tool box. Has many uses.
The back pressure test I'd want to jump on. Not with the MityVac though.
