Default Peeling steering wheel

Anyone got some ideas for freshening up a peeling steering wheel?

Either a cheap cover or just replace it...

Sometimes you can get lucky in a salvage yard and find pretty good low mileage ones. It's the same steering wheel on the full size GM trucks and SUV's, so you don't have to limit the search to just S10's and Blazers.

Blazen Red , that is a good tip and increases the chances of finding a nice upgrade in the salvage yard? But how about a nice slip on cover from the auto parts stores ? Any suggestions there.? My '03 steering wheel is down to a black foam rubber looking cover. Look's terrible.

That's probably your only other option. I've never been a fan of the cheap slip on covers because of how bulky they make the wheel feel, and how some of them have the tenancy to slip and move around on the steering wheel.

On the old Corolla I use to have, I installed a fake leather cover that required stitching on. It went on and stayed on tight, and didn't add much thickness to the wheel. It was a very nice premium feel when done. Would have lasted longer if it were real leather and not cheaply made lol, but it certainly looked an felt nice for a good long while.

Thanks, good photo's. It is good looking for a 'lace on' cover. I don't like the looks of the old style lace on covers with the plastic lace that went diagonally around the steering wheel and looked awkward when it came to a thick spoke on the wheel. This one is much better in appearance.

I'm with you on that. This one was way more time consuming to install, but I really liked the outcome.

Default Chris Fix solution to a peeling steering wheel !

I just saw this steering wheel repair by Chris Fix on his 1998 Mustang. He shows a wheel cover and then goes into a better alternative. Caution: Mustangs are displayed in this site.
