Question Possiable Faulty Fuel Sending Unit/Pump

Here is the general diognostic: 2001 4WD Blazer
1. The fuel guage has been on the frits for a long time. (didn't fix it because it was not completly broken).
2. Went to start the blazer and no fuel prime sound with ignition on and engine turns over.
3. Swaped relay switch with the fog lamp because there the same. Back to number 2, same result.
4. Didn't notice security light or open fuel pressure check valve, will have to double check.
5. Curious if pump can be checked by finding a short at the relay switch with a multi-meter.

Went back to the parking lot to verify a couple of things. Just happen to have a wiring schematic. With the battery fully charged, the Oil pressure gauge reads and the security light goes off after 2 seconds. This eliminates any ignition problems because it completes the circut. I should check to see if there is power going to the sending unit, but this requires droping the tank anyways.
Checked in with one of my mechanic friends and his asessment was the same. If the relay is not the problem then it is the pump. Since its been so cold that fuel pumps are breaking, (he had to change several this week).
