Is the yellow wire the same on a 1st gen? Id like to install a switch just for the hell of it. I never knew what wire to tap into.

I guess yellow wire to 1 side of the switch, then yellow wire to the other side of the switch to the original?? Im basically just creating a bridge right? I suck at wiring -.-

Under the dash by your knees? Like up by the steering column hidden by the plastic "beauty" piece....dunno what it's actually called. the lower dash panel? yeah above that. gotta reach for it but i dont think a "dumb kid" would even think to look there.

It's a purple wire on your truck provided it has an automatic (yellow if it has a manual trans). It runs straight from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. The manual trans has this wire go through the clutch switch so you can grab it there. You can put the switch anywhere on the circuit really, but the closer to the starter the more secure it is given how easy it is to bypass the ignition key lock & start the older trucks. At least with the newer vehicles you have the passlock system to stop it from running for long if a novice tries to hot-wire your vehicle.

Any modification of the wiring adds another failure point in the system so I really don't recommend doing this.

I still stand by my statement of correcting your son rather than altering your vehicle.

I agree: It's like fixing any problem, don't try to fix the symptom, fix the root cause.

I agree with correcting the behavior rather than modify the truck. Im curious what else he is doing beside stealing the blazer!
