hey guys,
I am looking to add some diesel *** recovery hooks/rings to the front of my '95 Blazer. Any one know of any good place to find some? Any good recommendations on how to mount them? I was thinking of making a steal bracket to be mounted in the ends of the frame rails like the stock tow hooks are, basically an "L" shape, with a few tapped holes to bolt into, and then hang the D-rings from a hole at the end. Any body know of any other solutions?

Whatever you make up, be sure to make it strong enough! If you do build an 'L' shaped bracket to mount the D-rings to, make sure to gusset it to keep it from bending.
But really, if you are expecting to be putting that much stress on these things, you should build yourself a bumper that can handle it. Pulling too much on one frame rail is a good way to bend things.

any good examples of custom bumpers on blazers? Know of anyone who builds custom bumbers, or see any aftermarket ones? I have looked around but haven't found anything. I don't expect I will be doing a great deal of pulling, as there are always much more capable trucks with me, but I want it to look tough, and at least have as much strength as the factory hooks (wich I realize aren't very strong)

Well, if it were me, I'd fab up a bumper myself, but I realize that not everyone has that option. But you are definitely going to have to do some welding to make up a bracket to mount the typical D-ring to or you will end up with something weaker than the stock hooks.

I have access to a proffesional welder who is insanely cheap (he did a 5point roll cage for me for $400 as opposed to the 1200-1500 everyone else wanted). I won't have a problem getting a good and strong bracket made, and I could potentially have a whole bumper made, but I guess I want to see some good examples before I go and have some monstrosity made. Any pics of cool examples?
