Default replaced intake gasket got loud knock

I recently replaced the intake gaskets on my 96 4.3 blazer. After finishing i fired it up and instantly heard a loud knocking coming from the top end. I know for sure that it isn’t a rod knock but I’m puzzled as to what it is. The gaskets where done because they leaked. Any advice would be extremely appreciated

You have a stuck lifter, no problem. Make sure your oil is OK and clean. It will go away after a short time. You probably have some sludge up there and the few days you spent replacing the Intake Manifold gasket may have dried things up a little and now its stuck. Same exact thing happened to me when I did it on my 96. After two days I put some Sea Foam in the crank case, drove it about 10 miles, drained it and replaced the filter and new oil. Sound went away and has not come back.

No problem. I cannot count the times the people on this board have given me advice that not only saved me big bucks but made me a more knowledgeable person. I have to say, older guy here, love turning wrenches as a hobby and have just about rebuilt my 96 with a lot of help from this board , the DIY section and advice from many knowledgeable posters.

a while back i helped my uncle with a 97 change his intake gaskets, after we put it back together it started and 2 seconds later this awful knock. turned out after much cursing, and more wrenching that a piece of my swivel ratchet broke off and fell down in the intake. when we started it, it sucked the piece in and down onto the piston, where the piston drove it into the head. new piston and a machine job. 600 bucks or so and good as new...was not a good week. lol

Well I tried the sea foam and it didn't work.....So I took the upper and lower intake back off checked out the lifters. All most all of them collape but one I can clearly tell never pumps up. I pulled it apart and it had a some skank in there but nothing to crazy. It did how ever show some wearing and almost a polished finish on one side from wearing. It was the passenger side rear lifter. I also noticed that the lifter crattle had some up and down ward play in it. At this point i went online and discover that comp cams make a complete k kit. My understanding is that the kit includes every thing I need minus gaskets. Anyone formilure the kit?
