Replacing ball joints help
I have a 97 blazer 4x4 4 door v6 vortec. I'm confused. I need to replace my front ball joints. the upper ball joints were a breeze but the lower were weird. Do the lower ball joints have to be pressed in? The new ball join i got doesnt need to be pressed but im not sure if i got the wrong part. the one i bought looks like this
"javascript
opImage('http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images/img/mcq/fa1466e-4.jpg',%20'McQuay-Norris%20FA1466E');" but i dont see how it would fit. the haynes manual says that the 2wd has to be poped in but mine is 4x4.
any opinons?

The part you have looks similar to my '98. I installed the moog. However, my father-in-law (GM mechanic) said he was "suprised my ball joints were bolted in, as usually they are rivited, and you have to drill the rivits out and replace the rivits with the bolts in the package"
Dont know if that helps you, but that may be the case on yours.

If they are riveted in-they're original. If bolted, as stated b-4, they have been replaced. So....if yours are riveted-cut, grind, drill, air hammer or whatever but...remove the rivets-cut the heads off and punch out the remains(just did a lower within the last half hour)then as stated by an earlier poster, bolt it in, re-install all and grease(I usually do it-the new one, in my hand b-4 installing but re-grease all 3 on the side that was tore apart-upper, lower, tie rod when done). Good luck JP[>:]
