Default ring gear size?

I've got an 02 s10 blazer 2wd, I need to change out the rear wheel bearings. It seems doable but I need to be able to tell wether I have the 9 1/2 inch ring gear or not. The truck is an ls fully loaded of that helps, any ideas? Thanx.

wow 9.5"....if only...The GM 14-Bolt fullfloating, 1-ton axle had the 9.5" ring gear..the system youre looking at may be overlapping S-Series blazers and Fullsize Blazers. But even then I don't think that was the standard option for the rear axle.

Anyhow, if you have an auto transmission, youve got the 10-bolt, 7.625" ring gear, but if you have a 5-Speed, its most likely the 8.6" rear end (Also listed as an 8.5..but GM switched in '99 to the 8.6")

I am sure the 7.5 may have been put in some Blazers (2WD espescillaly).I have never seen a 4x4 equipted with the 7.5 ring gear: All blazer/Jimmys with this axle need to be checked as the covers rust out! Check your production sheet!

My '95 4x4 has the 7.5 inch ring gear. Apparently, the 8.5 inch ring gear is fairly rare; I seem to recall seeing that it is present in something under a quarter of all Blazers built.
